“Awakening 2017 – Concert with over 400 teenagers taking place on Thurs 4th May @ 7:30pm, Breaffy Arena, Castlebar

“Awakening” began in the Archdiocese last year with over 300 teenagers coming together on stage to sing Church and contempory music together at Breaffy Arena, Castlebar. It was such a huge success, that all involved asked for it to happen all over again this year….and we are so excited to announce that it will take place on Thursday 4th May at 7.30pm….Breaffy Arena, Castlebar.

Have a look at our video below to get a glimpse of what is in store for on the night.

This year we have over 425 teenagers taking part!!!!!

Over the next two months, a number of very passionate and enthusiastic R.E and Music teachers within the Archdiocese of Tuam will be working on the music with their students in their own schools, and will only come together  with the other schools on the day of the concert for the very first time. It is a huge task but one worth all the work.

The aim of our Awakening concert is to bring together the voices of over 400 young people to perform some of the most beautiful and meaningful church and contemporary songs to lift our spirits and raise much needed funds for Pieta House.

The 400 young voices taking part this year are made up of secondary school students from Athenry, Balla, Ballyhaunis, Castlebar, Claremorris, Dunmore, Glenamaddy, Headford, Louisburgh, Mountbellew, Tuam and Westport.

The students have chosen to donate the raffle proceeds of this event to Pieta House because unfortunately their generation is all to familiar with the pain and loss that suicide brings to so many homes in our country at this time.

Last year, we had hoped and promised everyone that Awakening was going to be a very special concert of both modern church and contemporary music but the young people blew everyone’s expectations right out of the water with just how impressive they were.

We would like to welcome people from all walks of life to this epic concert. It is the perfect way to lead into the weekend of the darkness into light walks which took place all over the country that weekend. Tickets are €10. Contact Teresa on 087-2424927 to book your tickets today
